Tax Manager

ABOUT THE POSITION

• Primary responsibility will be to review various types of tax returns
• Will work towards resolving various tax issues with clients
• Ability to recognize material tax and compliance issues and consult with the client and/or partner as appropriate
• Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the firm or firm personnel
• Research and implement tax strategies, Identify when research is needed; clearly and concisely frame issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely report the analysis and/or areas for improvement
• Assist with developing, recommending and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits
• Develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities
• Facilitate effective CPE training sessions in areas of specialization, involving firm specialists
• Train and mentor staff in areas of specialization, software tools and tax return preparation
• Handle matters that arise with the IRS, state and local authorities
• Effectively develop and maintain strong client relations
• In conjunction with partners and director of operations review and monitor due dates.

• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively delegate
• Strong analytical, research, critical thinking and decision-making skills
• Ability to develop and manage a team of tax professionals

SOFTWARE REQUIRMENTS

• Proficient in tax software, preferably ProSystems
• Experience with tax research databases such as Checkpoint, BNA and RIA
• Proficiency with ProSystems Engagement ideal
• Experience with Microsoft Office and excel
